The Oliver Miller Homestead will present PRESERVING the HARVEST, an outdoor special day on Sunday, September 20 from 1:30-4:30 PM.
Early settlers like the Millers were faced with the challenge of preserving enough of their harvest to last through the winter. They used methods such as salting, pickling, smoking and drying as well as careful planning to survive at a time when people didn’t run to a store or rely on delivery every time they needed food.
We will also have a limited number of tissue-mussies (small bouquets of fragrant herbs and flowers) for sale for $1 each.
In this year of Covid-19, OMH is only asking $1 per person for admission to the site. We do sincerely appreciate any additional donation you may give. The first floor of the Stone House will be open for a walk-through. We ask that you wear a mask when inside buildings or when speaking directly to a docent on the grounds.
